Frequently Asked Questions

What is the culture like at IJM?

We offer a fast-paced, professional and friendly work environment for our employees. We work diligently to provide tangible relief for the people we serve, while being good stewards of the funds generously provided to us by our donors.

IJM employees begin each day with 30 minutes of silence and solitude before God and gather at 11:00 a.m. for corporate prayer. We hold quarterly staff retreats to provide spiritual refreshment and team building opportunities.

What is the interview process?

Completed applications are reviewed by the IJM Recruiting Team and the hiring manager. Phone interviews are conducted with the most qualified applicants, followed by virtual panel interviews with the top candidates. IJM requires a background check and thorough review of references with an employment offer.

What is the office attire?

Office attire is smart business casual.

May I schedule an informational interview?

Due to the quantity of applications that we receive, we are unable to offer informational interviews for employment opportunities.

How many people work for IJM?

IJM has almost 1,400 staff worldwide, which includes full-time, part-time, contract employees, interns and fellows. Of the employees working in IJM field offices, 92% are nationals of the countries in which they serve.

Will I receive notification of the status of my application?

All applicants will receive a verbal or written response communicating whether or not we will be moving forward with their application. Due to the volume we receive, we cannot provide specific updates on the status of pending applications.

Does IJM provide benefits to employees?

We offer competitive total rewards benefits packages, with excellent medical, dental and retirement benefits to all employees. Additional benefits such as relocation, paid holidays and generous paid time off are provided for all regular full-time staff.

Do I need to submit a separate application for each position of interest?

Yes.

Equal Opportunity for Everyone

At IJM, we’re committed to building a diverse workforce through fair and equitable employment practices. IJM encourages people of any race, color, age, sex, marital status or political ideology to apply for employment. While we welcome everyone into this work, we truly believe that the work we are doing is God’s work, not our own, and practice spiritual disciplines together daily. That’s why we legally require under SEC. 2000e-1 [Section702] of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that all employees practice a mature orthodox Christian faith, as defined by the Apostles’ Creed.

IJM is committed to Safeguarding

IJM is a leader in the global effort to safeguard vulnerable people. In compliance with International Safeguarding Standards (UNICEF, IASC 6 core principles on PSEA, IASC Minimum operating standards on PSEA and CHS) we commit to a zero-tolerance policy and to take measures to prevent harm against anyone who comes into contact with IJM and its work. By choosing to move forward in the assessment and hiring process you are affirming you will abide by IJM’s Safeguarding Policy, Protection against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment Policy, Code of Ethics and related procedures.
