Hats Off To Nashville: Tomorrow Is IJM Day In Music City
September 2013
IJM Day Resolution
The city of Nashville, Tennessee, recently passed a little resolution declaring Tuesday, October 1, 2013, “IJM Day.” You may now be wondering: what will IJM Day be about?
Given its title, you might think we’re going to throw a big party, at which Gary Haugen (our president and CEO) will thank the fine people of Nashville and their leaders for this honorable mention. But IJM Day is about much more than that.
Our Hats Are Off to Nashville!
This Tuesday, October 1, Gary Haugen will indeed be present to thank all of the fine people of Nashville and their leaders and we will indeed be celebrating. But what we’ll be celebrating is this expression from the community in Nashville: They are speaking up, taking action, and joining IJM in saying that the fight to eradicate slavery and other forms of violent oppression everywhere is a priority, and that freedom for all is possible.
We are so honored to be working with the people of Nashville, and look forward to continuing our existing friendships there and to making many more. Here’s to a little resolution that means a great deal!
