The Need
For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Sr. Lead, Financial Planning and Analysis for the Latin America region.
The Sr. Lead, Financial Planning and Analysis, Latin America provides regional-level leaders with the support, information, analysis and insight needed to make strategic decisions that will allow IJM’s Latin America region to achieve its regional objectives as part of the 500 million Vision, while ensuring fiscal responsibility and good stewardship within the region. This role also works closely with the Global Finance Financial Planning and Analysis team to ensure alignment, information and support for Global-level planning and decision-making needs. This position may be based at IJM Offices in Guatemala City, Guatemala; San Salvador, El Salvador; Bogota, Colombia; Lima, Peru; or La Paz, Bolivia. It reports directly to the Regional Director Operations, Latin America with dotted line reporting to the Vice President of Financial Planning and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the countries mentioned above.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the creation of informative and accurate strategic plans, annual budgets and quarterly forecasts by developing and entering regional and country level expense plans, targets, assumptions, and projections;
- Support the Latin America Leadership Team in making strategic decisions by providing them with return on investment and opportunity cost analysis;
- Provide key budget managers within the Region with monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc analysis of their budget versus actual data, identifying inefficiencies or redundancies, allocating and reallocating financial resources and support them in their overall financial resources management;
- Model and advise the Latin America Leadership Team and other budget managers within the region on the financial impact of strategic decisions and changed circumstances;
- Ensure fiscal responsibility and good stewardship within the region by providing the Latin America Leadership Team with regular reliable reports and analysis of their performance against budgets and forecasts;
- Equip the Latin America Leadership Team and key members of their team with training, tools and templates that enable them to understand and utilize IJM’s financial planning process and financial data;
- Develop policies and procedures that adapt IJM’s global financial planning policies and procedures to the region’s specific context;
- Support the grants management team in the creation of grant proposal budgets funding programs within the Region.
- Develop customized reports and dashboards that allow budget managers within the Region to understand and act on financial data; and
- Advise the Vice President of Financial Planning on innovations and desired improvements in financial management to better serve the region.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or other similar discipline;
- Graduate degree or certification in finance, business administration, or other similar discipline preferred;
- At least five years of professional experience in financial planning and forecasting, budget management, program management, or data analysis;
- Experience in financial and project management for complex, rapidly growing organizations operating in multiple currencies and on multiple data platforms preferred;
- Experience and high-level competency with Microsoft Excel and/or other similar software packages;
- Experience with Adaptive Insights and Workday Financials or similar data platforms strongly preferred;
- Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization software packages strongly preferred; and
- Fully fluent in Spanish and in English (oral and written)

Additional information:
This role requires approximately 4 weeks of travel to several countries in Latin America per year. It also requires occasional travel to the United States and other countries. The position holder will ensure to have a valid passport and will adhere to country specific and IJM’s travel policies.
This role does not provide an international expatriate benefits package therefore it is open for nationals or residents who have the legal capacity to live and work in Guatemala City, Guatemala; San Salvador, El Salvador; Bogota, Colombia; Lima, Peru; and La Paz, Bolivia.
