Who We Are

For over 25 years, International Justice Mission (IJM) has pioneered work to protect vulnerable people from violence through a strengthened Justice System response. The Ghana office works with local government to rescue victims of trafficking, bring perpetrators to justice, restore survivors to safety and strength, and supports law enforcement in building a safe future that lasts.


The Need

As we grow to expand our global impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Coordinator, Ghana Survivor Network for one-year fixed-term contract who would work closely with the Senior Lead, Global Survivor Network (GSN), IJM Ghana in empowering survivors to advocate on issues of trafficking in communities, churches and government to bring sustainable change and protection for those vulnerable to trafficking. The Coordinator, GSN reports directly to the National Director, Advocacy & Partnerships. This role is responsible for implementing strategies to identify, train and mentor survivors to be advocates and to influence national and regional policies on human trafficking. This is a fixed term, on-site position with occasional travel to other locations in the country.

This position is based in Accra, Ghana and reports to the National Director, Advocacy and Partnerships and is only available for candidates with the right to work in Ghana.


Responsibilities:

  • Support national and regional efforts in creating GSN chapters, providing empowerment and training to survivors, and developing policies that ensure sustainability and longevity of GSN;
  • Identify and recruit survivors to be part of national chapters of GSN, to empower survivors to be advocates and to become movement leaders;
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with community and national organizations, local and national leaders and government stakeholders and mobilize them to tack action on matters regarding GSN advocacy and implementation;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with guardians of survivors if and as needed;
  • Provide feedback to direct report and Management on survivor experiences in GSN and assist in improving the overall impact of the program;
  • Support development of training curriculum for GSN members;
  • Identify and provide training and mentorship opportunities for GSN members;
  • Serve as resource person for trainings as needed on GSN related presentations;
  • Ensure proper documentation and record keeping of all related documents;
  • Ensure proper monitoring and evaluation of GSN program through creation of feedback loops from GSN members and other stakeholders;
  • Work closely with team to set yearly dashboard goals and complete relevant country, regional and global reports;
  • Work with Communications and Media Coordinator to develop storytelling opportunities;
  • Support efforts to identify speaking engagements and advocacy opportunities for GSN members; and
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or in relevant degree;
  • Minimum three (3) years hands-on social work experience, preferably with a non-profit organization;
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in working directly with survivors in an advocacy related role;
  • Direct experience of public speaking, advocacy and awareness raising on critical human rights issues; and
  • A good understanding or experience of IJM’s casework and theory of change.

*What is a statement of faith?

A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how you see it as relevant to your involvement with IJM. The statement can either be incorporated into the cover letter or submitted as a separate document which should not more than a page, and should include, at a minimum, a description of your spiritual disciplines (prayer, study, etc.) and your current fellowship or place of worship.
