Director of Aftercare - Kolkata, India
The Need
International Justice Mission (IJM) is seeking a Social Worker to serve as Director of Aftercare. This position is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing all IJM’s aftercare strategy so that all individuals rescued from oppression can receive appropriate, sustainable, victim-specific, rehabilitation. The qualified candidate will be a leader with at least three years of experience managing Social Workers and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Assure the professional quality of aftercare opportunities;
- Develop a comprehensive aftercare strategy;
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with government leaders and NGOs;
- Fully understand the relevant laws and procedure;
- Develop and oversee IJM’s relationship with its local long-term aftercare partners;
- Travel to meet with rescued victims and work with area leaders;
- Timely, concisely and thoroughly provide written reports of all activities;
- Organize and maintain detailed records of aftercare information;
- Evaluate aftercare outcomes;
- Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information;
- Ensure that aftercare operations do not exceed the amount budgeted for each project;
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of staff involved in aftercare;
- Participate in the leadership of the office and act as a community liaison;
- Participate in prosecutions and serve as a complainant or witness when needed; and
- Carry out an additional portfolio of assignments given by the Field Office Director.
Required Skills and Experience
- Relevant 8-10 years social work experience preferred;
- Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Management or related field;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite Software, Windows 2000 and Windows XP;
- Knowledge and experience with micro-finance services; various government social service programs; and NGOs working in West Bengal;
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Bengali. Ability to speak and write Hindi preferred; and
- Organized, meticulous attention to detail.
