Case Worker - Bangalore, India

General Description

Investigators manage an active caseload of investigation based on reports of injustice. They gather information, document facts and develop strategies that will lead to the liberation of the victims. Investigators build relationships with victims and regularly provide written reports about their cases. This position is based in Bangalore, Karnataka and requires significant travel throughout South India. This position reports to the Director of Investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations into reports of injustice in South India;
  • Fully understand the relevant laws and procedure;
  • Operate and maintain all types of investigative equipment;
  • Manage and organize multiple investigations simultaneously;
  • Timely, concisely and thoroughly provide written reports of all activities;
  • Develop IJM’s investigative abilities;
  • Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information;
  • Regularly travel throughout South India gathering data;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local contacts, government leaders and operatives;
  • Participate in prosecutions and serve as a complainant or witness when needed; and
  • Carry out an additional portfolio of assignments given by the Director of Investigations or the Director.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Relevant work experience;
  • Bachelor’s Degree or beyond;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite Software, Windows 2000 and Windows XP;
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques, experience with various government social service programs and NGOs working in South India is preferred;
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken Kannada, English and Tamil. Ability to speak and write Telugu and Hindi preferred;
  • Organized, meticulous attention to detail;
